Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal on Tuesday stumped four Netherlands batsmen to set a new record in a Twenty20 international match.
The previous record was of three stumpings, shared by Akmal and Zimbabwean keeper Tatenda Taibu. In fact, such a feat has never been recorded in one-day internationals also.
Akmal also became the first wicketkeeper in T20 internationals to score 40 plus runs and effect four dismissals in the same match.
Also joining an exclusive list was teammate Shahid Afridi who picked 4-11 to register the fourth-best performance by any bowler in all Twenty20 internationals.
The three ahead of him are New Zealand’s Mark Gillespie’s 4-7 (v Kenya, Durban.2007-08), Pakistan’s Umar Gul’s 4-8 (v Australia,Dubai, 2008-09) and South Africa’s Dale Steyn’s 4 for 9 (v West Indies, Port Elizabeth, 2007-08).
Shahid Afridi also took his tally of wickets in T20 internationals to 26, just one short of Umar Gul’s record tally of 27 wickets.
Pakistan’s 82-run win is their second biggest in this format of the game. Their biggest win in Twenty20 had come against Bangladesh whom they had beaten by 102 runs at Karachi in 2007-08.
